News Flash - Money, money, money!!

The Club has received a letter from the Minister for Sport and Recreation informing us that our application for a grant to install a synthetic green has been approved. Hopefully, we will have a new synthetic green by next season.

100 Up/Consistency Singles - Closing date extended to 10th December

The 100up or Consistency Singles is a new event on our calendar this season and it will require your participation.

The idea of the tournament is to make rolling up a bit more fun, improve your draw game and come together as one club no matter your gender. Whether you have experience or not it doesn't matter. This is a game that makes improving your game fun as well as giving you a better idea of how you fit into bowls in a team environment.

The games will be played at your own leisure, depending on who is available on the day and then it is up to you to organise your matches. The draw will be placed on the bowls office window along with the rules of play. Match cards will be pinned to the competition board in the bowls office also.

Saturday Pennants

There have been a few concerns raised by President, Barry Driscoll, and also by our hard-working 'Fines Master', Bob Geikie.

The first concern is in regard to the duties of Duty Teams. This means exactly that - 'TEAM'. There are a few players who never help out when their team is listed as 'Duty Team' even when asked to do so.

How do we fix it:

1. We all dig in and help, we are one club.

2. We make it a 'duty rink' as a lot of other clubs have implemented.

3. The Team Managers make a note of those concerned and they receive a fine at the fines sessions.

Whilst on the subject of the fines session, all the money raised at these fines sessions goes to subsidising drinks at our Windup Night.

We also need as many bowlers as possible to stay back to help make the fines sessions a fun time.

If you witness anyone doing anything funny, rolling a wrong bias or a bowl out of bounds, please pass on this information to  Bob Geike our Fines Master.

After speaking to Bob today (30/10), he commented that unless the numbers increase,  he may have to cancel this very entertaining session.

This unfortunately would mean that members would have to pay for their own drinks at the Windup Night.

If you haven't been to one of these sessions, please make every effort to stay back after bowls on a Saturday afternoon,  it is really a lot of fun. Bob never lets the truth get in the way of a good story. It's also good for team morale and a way of getting to know more of your clubmates.

Come on Morley - let's get behind our Club and help make the 2021/22 season a cracker!!
